Ron Alvarado
Ron Alvarado is the President of Novus Group, which he founded in 2008. In June 2013 (for the 3rd consecutive year) Novus was ranked one of the Top 500 Hispanic Businesses in the U.S. by Hispanic Business Magazine and in September 2014, the magazine named Novus the 24th Fastest Growing Company in the nation. In August 2013, for the 2nd year in a row, Novus was named one of The 100 Fastest Growing Privately Owned Companies in Pittsburgh by the Pittsburgh Business Times (ranking #5 in 2012).
Mr. Alvarado’s staffing industry experience spans three decades. Prior to forming Novus, he was the National Director of a start-up company which focused on developing national & international staffing programs for Fortune 1000 companies. He spearheaded the company’s growth, building the firm into a multi-million dollar organization and expanding the company’s service capabilities to include over 250 markets across the U.S., Canada, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Prior to that, he was the Regional President of a large publicly traded, national staffing firm.
Mr. Alvarado served as the Chairman of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce from 2013 to 2018. He proudly served on the Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Board (WIB), the Governor’s principal private sector policy advisor on workforce development issues. He was initially appointed to the WIB by Governor Edward G. Rendell and was reappointed by Governor Tom Corbett. He is a former board member of the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association, the Western Pennsylvania Diversity Initiative and the Dollar Energy Fund. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Brother’s Brother Foundation.
In 2013, Mr. Alvarado received the Community College of Allegheny County’s Vanguard Diversity Award and was honored with the 2015 “El Sol Award” by the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Hispanic Attorneys Committee. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Mr. Alvarado as the recipient of the 2016 NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award.
